A Tremendous Send-Off For Ike Turner!

Ike Turner was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi on November 5th, 1931. Ike left this Earth on December 12th, 2007.

BluePower was privledged to attend Ike's funeral today at the City Of Refuge Church in Gardena, California.

The artists and music industry greats who attended were amongst those who have played major roles through their contributions which shaped the music of the USA and the world today.

This writer was touched as this was a beautifull tribute to Ike Turner. Ike's love for his family and for anyone lucky enough to have worked with him as well as their love for him, was apparent in the stories told and events recounted. I can see Ike smiling from ear to ear now. And when Ike smiled....it was a beautiful thing.

We are also happy to report that the myth, perpetuated by the book by Tina Turner and the subsequent film which demonized Ike, was completely destroyed. It was great to hear the real truth regarding his life and career which paid homage to a great man, exemplary musician and beloved teacher. It's about time.

Our world is less one extraordinary talented human being today. But he left behind an incredible legacy of music to which we can listen and enjoy forever.

We can only suspect that Ike is already writing songs for that great band in the heavenly land. And you know the songs will rock.

We will miss you Brother Ike.
