New Releases....July 2007 Show!

This show is a compilation of great new product from both the Majors and Indies. We have product from Capitol Records, Vanguard Records and Volcano/Legacy Records on this show as well as nine independent labels. It gives us a great deal of pleasure to be able to air this music.

In this show, we have highlighted a couple of great future events: The Knitting Factory (Hollywood) and Heart Of Gold Entertainment are featuring a showcase of young and gifted musicians from around the world on the evening of August 9th. A show you won't want to miss.

Also, the Guitar Speak Store will be opening soon on Guitar Speak, BluePower's ancillary site. As soon as the store is completed, you will be able to download basic guitar lessons for novice guitarists taught by Brian Rhys as well as other featured items we know you will enjoy.

Until the store is ready, we ask that you please take a second to go to the "Donation" button on the sidebar to lend a hand. BluePower needs your support to stay alive. We are very grateful to our many listeners and hope you will help us keep doing what we truly love to do. And we will love you for it!

Enjoy the show....

The Great Music Challenge From Harvey Cooper!

The Great Music Challenge!

Several weeks ago I had the great priviledge of sitting with an old friend and music compatriot, Harvey Cooper. We found ourselves discussing the pros and cons of the music industry today.

In case you did not know Mr. Cooper's background....Harvey has been in the business since 1965 when he was Vice President of Promotion for RCA Records. In 1973 Harvey was named "Executive Of The Year" by Billboard Magazine. In 1974, Harvey became co-founder of Cooper/Florez Productions creating hits for RCA, Columbia Records, Arista and A&M Records. Harvey became Sr. Vice President and head of Artists and Repertoire for 20th Century Fox Records in 1977 and was responsible for taking the company from a 6.5 million dollar loss to a 2.5 million dollar profit in 18 months.

Harvey has done the show before but never has he been as out-spoken as this. Harvey is convinced that talent is really the bottom line of the entertainment business and makes several statements to that fact.

Harvey also condemns the big players in the music business and calls them "suits." To this statement, I heartily concur. It seems the record business we knew and loved has turned into an industry without a heart or soul, controlled by attorneys and accountants, most of whom have no idea as to music, musicians or talent whatsoever. Forget "discovery and development." Terms that were all too familiar in the early days of the record business.

Harvey Cooper has thrown down the gauntlet and makes a serious challenge. If anyone listening to this show knows of someone who is blessed with what they believe is a major gift or talent, then please send these folks to us here at BluePower. We are searching for real, honest-to-God people with serious talent who would like to utilize that talent for the benefit of themselves and the world.

We have a grand idea!

Please send all material to....BluePower.com, 15136 Haynes Street, Van Nuys, Ca., 91411.

Please send copies only and make sure all original music is copyrighted. We WILL NOT be able to return any materials sent.
