BluePower Presents....The Blues In Schools! (Part One)

It's not often I have the privilege of having my son in Los Angeles for a visit. When he comes, usually we just hang out, have dinner and play Scrabble. (Last time we played Scrabble, he won by using the word "yurt".) How frustrating! I had actually stayed in a yurt many years ago and had quite forgotten the term.

On this visit we were talking about the Blues and Dave mentioned that he was influenced heavily by some early and contemporary Blues artists. It was then we decided to document David's early Blues references for posterity. I learned a great deal about my son....as will you.

David selected all the songs played on both shows. The shows are fairly lengthy but the music kicks. It's always amazing to me the life that is generated because of the early listening of a few good Blues tunes well played. And....the conversation is good.

David Schools' life has been particularly interesting, don't you think?

The marvelous photo above was taken by the most illustrious Henry Diltz. A man I met long ago when I first came to Hollywood at a place called The Chicken Ranch. A notorious gathering place for many great musicians high in the Hollywood Hills.
