Ike Turner....The Bad Boy Of The Blues! (Part Two)

BluePower is proud to present Part Two of an exclusive interview with the inimitable IKE TURNER.

Hailed as the FATHER OF ROCK AND ROLL, Turner talks of the early days on the road, his influences and of the racial parameters black musicians had to mind in the South.

In this second of a four part series, John Rhys and Jeanie Cunningham attempt to uncover Ike's feelings regarding many topics.

We think you will be surprised to find this man is "not" the ogre of which he has been made by the media. You will find that Ike Turner is one of the most gifted popular musicians alive today and has contributed more to the world of popular music than even the experts realize.

Tommy Castro Honored With Leadership Award!

The Portuguese American Leadership Council of the United States (PALCUS), has announced that musician Tommy Castro will be honored as one of the recipients of its Leadership Award at a gala ceremony on November 12, 2005 in Newark, NJ. Television personality Meredith Vieira, co-moderator of The View and host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the event. PALCUS is a non-profit organization headquarted in Washington, DC whose mission is to address the concerns of the Portuguese-American community. The Leadership Award is given to Portuguese-Americans who have achieved success in their chosen field.

Over the years Castro has risen to the top ranks of the blues field, winning legions of fans with his passionate rock 'n' soul music and garnering the highest praise from the likes of B.B. King and Carlos Santana. Said Castro, "This award came as quite a surprise to me. It's really an honor. One thing I remember growing up as a Portuguese - American was going to the IES Hall in San Jose, California for the big Festas. It was like going to a gigantic wedding reception. The food was great, traditional Portuguese food, and there was lots of it. The grown-ups danced, and kids played. I loved it. One very simple observation I remember making was that all the Portuguese people I met were really nice people. I am looking forward to the Gala in New Jersey."

Castro and his electrifying band are currently on tour in support of their new DVD release, entitled Whole Lotta' Soul. Their latest CD release, Soul Shaker on Blind Pig Records, has appeared on the Billboard blues charts for twenty weeks.
